05 Jun Lawsuit over casino robbery
A Hawaiian man is suing, the Las Vegas Hotel and casino, Main Street Station over an assault and robbery that took place in a men’s restroom. They claim that due to a lack of security personnel patrolling the floor, which allowed the assailant the ability to walk in to the casino, hide in a dark hallway and commit the crime. They feel that the casino’s negligence was to blame for the crime committed. Main Street Station is a popular hotel for Hawaiian tourists, marketing itself as a home away from home for Hawaiians. According to the casino’s SEC report in 2011 patrons from Hawaii accounted for about 55% of “occupied room nights.”
As anyone who has been to Vegas can most likely attest to; Vegas is full of security personnel and surveillance. The lawsuit alleges that it’s not focused on protecting the people in the casino but the money in the casino. The lawsuit alleges that casinos should spend more money on maintaining security around the casino to help keep the people as well as the money safe.
