19 Dec Preparing your house for the Winter
Its getting to be the middle of winter and it’s about to get really cold so its time for some tips to help keep you prepared and safe this season.
1. Have your heating system checked by a licensed heating/air-conditioning professional. Most furnace manufacturers recommend at least annual inspections.
This makes sure that when you have the heater running properly. You don’t have to worry about having to be without a heater this winter.
2. Trim trees away from the house. Have dead trees and branches removed by professional tree trimmers, or do it yourself.
This makes sure you never have to wake up in the morning and finding out that a tree fell and did damage to you home or car(s).
3. Check fire extinguishers, charging and replacing as necessary. Also replace the batteries in carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, and check to make sure these are all in working order.
No one enjoys waking up in the middle of the night to the beep of a dying smoke detector battery. What is worse than that would be waking up to a fire and having no fire extinguishers that aren’t empty.
